Friends and I took a trip from the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. Brought our lunch to the island and was able to walk around the grounds to see what this place is like. Met with the caretakers. A must see for lighthouse lovers!

Wonderful location. Great, realistic interpreters of a lighthouse keeper and his family life on the island
Like it all. The real deal when it comes to lighthouses and how they were manned. Facinating local history. You also have the run of the place which is very nice.
This was open lighthouse week end, and we lucked out as we were able to not only look at the lighthouse, but climb up and view from the top. Also, we were able to tour the keepers house, and have a guide in character, tell us about how life was to live there. It was simply great. Beautiful views and...

This is a quiet little island where you could sit all day and watch the world go by - and boats too! You can get there only by boat, there is a donation box as you enter, and if you go "off season" like we did, you may be the only ones there. The lightkeepers house had the furnishings in...

This was a little taste of the old days. Not just because the re-enactors gave us a dramatic monologue about the life of a light house keeper and his family, but because you got the distinct impression that a kid growing up in Boothbay Harbor can still live the wholesome existence of the 50's and 60's. What a great summer...

There's a little beach on the side of the island facing the Spruce Point Inn...it's FULL of sea glass. We spent hours out there and came home with bags and bags of it.
WE visited twice - once by boat and once by kayak to see the lighthouse, hike, peek at the osprey nest and search for seaglass. A $3 donation (5 per family) was extremely reasonable for all the work of the staff to make this available to the public. Well worth a visit for kids/families or adults.
We took an hour and explored this little island. It was serene and peaceful. Also great for photos. Didn't have any children but educational center on the island looked very nice. It's a very pleasant way to spend a few hours relaxing and watching the water.
Interesting tour of a historic, inhabited lighthouse. A top family outing that is a short trip from town.
