We enjoy visiting Popham Beach very much. We especially like it in the spring before the beach gets too crowded. You can fly kites, walk the expansive beach and walk the sandbar out to the island at low tide. Very beautiful beach.

A place perfect for family or groups of friends. The water is not deep for a good portion so it's great for kids and adults alike who don't want to get too wet. You'll also have the ability to venture, explore and climb before the tide comes in. Great destination!
Beautiful ocean state park. Beautiful drive the park. This state park is extremely clean. Great place for the whole family. You will keep visiting once you viist.
This is certainly a great beach in the summer time--with lots of beautiful white sand to walk or stretch out on a blanket. There is a State Park on site, so there is a fee to enter the parking lot in the summer time. Dogs are allowed, but they must be on a leash. There are picnic tables and rest...

One of my favorite places to go. Amazing sandy beach for walking. You can walk forever on this beach it seems, especially at low tide. One of my favorite things about low tide at Popham is the ability to walk out to Fox Island and climb the rocks, explore tide pools, etc. What is also very special is that there...

This is a raw beach — despite its civilized amenities like paved parking, bathrooms, and shower and changing rooms. We paid $4 to enter even in the off-season. The effects of fierce storms and raging surf on the beach were evident everywhere. Bring a camera! Waves had eaten away at the dunes, pushing the shoreline much closer to the parking...

Awesome in scale and power Popham Beach is the creation of river dynamics and ocean influences. The beauty of what you see is matched by the education offered by observing how drastically the landscape is changed by the effects of yearly variation in river flow, precipitation, and ocean storms. As you're filled with the beauty of the sand and vistas,...

This beach is not convenient due to the distance from parking to the actual beach. It was clean, yet the water is cold even in July. The best part about the beach is the sand bars & crabs, and that is the only reason I gave it an average rating as opposed to a poor rating.
It's a peaceful and honest piece of the Maine coast with a nice strip of beach to walk. Especially off season.
If you are a true northerner and can handle the frigid water, this location is a fantastic place to visit.
