The Tate House is situated in historic Stroudwater Village in Portland. It is a Georgian style house built in 1755 and was the home of Captain George Tate the senior mast agent for King George III. Visit this unique, Portland, Maine museum and learm about life in the mid 18th century. An important role, a British Mast Agent, was in charge of locating, felling and shipping tall pine trees to England for building large sailing ships.
