A cruise around Portland is a great way to spend some time.Leaving from the wharf area, there are a number of options and tours of varying lengths. Several cruises have interesting and informative commentary. We found a tour of two hours was about right for us but there are others up to around 6 hours in length for those with... More

A common cliche is to "stop and smell the roses" but I would much rather "stop and enjoy the bay". As busy as everything seems around you, it is so easy to just stop and take in every sense-inspiring beauty around you at Casco Bay. From the views of the beautiful ships, water and cleanliness of the city, to the... More

Portland can be a busy harbor. The whale murals are an interesting sight along with the many ferries to the islands. Each island is different and worth exploring in their own right. There are fun and wonderful restaurants on most of them. I can't think of anything I dislike about the Bay. I learned to sail here and take a... More

We were told about the mailboat ferry by someone who grew up in Maine. What a great day we had. The mailboat ferry brings supplies, mail, people, golf carts, washing machines and anything else needed on the islands of Casco Bay that have no bridge access. There are two trips each day.10:00 am or 2:45 pm. The adult fare was... More

Took the 90 minute cruise around the bay to Diamond Cove on Memorial Day and thoroughly enjoyed it! The day was sunny, warm and beautiful and we got some amazing photographs from the top deck! Definitely worth the time and $$. :)

We took the quick trip to Peaks Island which round trip is about an hour and the scenery is great. You can sit on the upper deck or inside out of the wind. Prices are very reasonable and you also see quite a slice of local people traveling to and from Portland mainland.

We went to Maine for Mothers Day and we walked along Portland's coast, Casco Bay. It was beautiful and we walked along the many wharfs. Some fish we spotted and we went to check the menu at dimilios. Didn't end up eating there though. If youre in southern maine around the whole casco bay area come to Portland!

The actual bay is beautiful on a good day. You can ride the mail ferries and other ferries that go from island to island in the bay, or take a longer ride up to Bailey Island in Harpswell, and enjoy a seafood meal with a great view. Restaurants line the shorefront, with Dimillo's ship restaurant being the most well-known attraction.... More

Real quick review. Eat at Dimillio's Restaurant ( a decommissioned ferry renovated and noe very opulent) and ask for a table by the window because you'd like to take in Casco Bay. Order the twin stuffed lobsters ( stuffed with crabmeat) and get set of a very unforgettable experience. I was there during a snowstorm once. Very romantic. Stay at... More
