...I can understand those that think it is way over priced. My husband & I both are intrigued by music boxes & other musical contraptions. Neither of us is nor has been involved in the music business. We chose the 1hr, 1 floor tour with Richard. He was VERY knowledgeable not only about the history of the house (duplex) but... More

It took a little work to find this place but it was absolutely worth it. Some people have complained about the price of the tour at $20 per floor but one floor gets you three rooms jam packed with all kinds of wonderful, fascinating music boxes and at least an hour with the incredibly informative guide. I had high hopes... More

Thoroughly enjoyed this unique museum about an hour from Portland in the charming town of Wiscasset. The admission is a bit on the high side, but in line with prices for other museums in this area that I visited. They offer 1 hour and 2 hour tours, and we took the one hour of the downstairs which takes you through... More

We took the first floor tour of this museum last year. When I decided to review our visit today, I thought that I would check the other comments here first. Frankly, after reading them, I was dumbfounded. Most gave this museum glowing accolades. Well, I agree that the museum has an impressive collection. It truly does. However, as for the... More

The Musical Wonder House is worth a detour off Route 1. I know it is a pain to get on and off that road, but believe me, you won't be sorry. TAKE THE KIDS, TEENAGERS TOO, TAKE YOUR HUSBAND, they will not be disappointed. The tour weaves in and out of beautiful Victorian rooms in the mansion. Each room is... More

How do you rate the attraction and tour guide high, but the customer service low? Good points first. Our tour guide was informative and charming, and the boxes were amazing. The quality of sound that some of them produced was outstanding. My husband didn't really want to visit this place, but by the end, he was amazed by these boxes.... More

We went to this museum back in 1995 and it is still the best museum we have ever experienced. At that time a retired London symphony conductor was the owner and he gave a concert in the museum in the evening (don't know if he still does this). You won't be disappointed--well worth the cost of the fee. We live... More

We knew this was going to be special just from the entrance...music boxes to play for a quarter. Then we took the extended tour which included both floors. Magical isn't the word for it. Our host-guide was fantastic, there are more beautiful music boxes/devices here than you can imagine. This is really one of the best museum tours we have... More

The Museum itself is in a beautiful home, that alone enticed us....but at a charge PER FLOOR, we chose just one floor. Definitely would have liked to see more, as my husband and I are both musicians. Lots of good information, but we were with several other visitors and some of the rooms were the boxes are are quite small....so... More

This museum of music boxes in Wiscasset (not Boothbay Harbor) is tucked away in a charming residential area, but is worth a visit. It's jammed with over 5,000 music boxes of the most amazing variety. We were lucky that on a Tuesday afternoon we were the only visitors there, and got a personalized tour for an hour with the owner... More
