Short Sands in York Beach Maine is a beautiful place to visit. We've been going there for years and love it each time we visit. To avoid crowds go before late June or after Labor Day. Nice little town to walk through and shop, eat, bowl or even go to the zoo if you want time away from the beach.... More

Nice beach, not very big and the water is very cold. There are places to walk to around the beach, stores and places to eat.

I have to take issue with Mary D calling Short Sands "downtown." This is a small, homey friendly beach area and hardly downtown. Just a few shops there, a couple eateries, and Fun Land and the Merry Go Round for the kiddies. Yes, in the summer you will find a lot of people crowding the "Goldenrod" for their fabulous "kisses".... More

This isn't a bad beach, but it's downtown and more crowded than Long Sands. Good for people with children, it is close to places to eat and recreation.

While this is a small beach, there is ample parking (you must feed the parking meter), there are rest rooms and changing rooms which are very clean, plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and the ocean is sheltered in this pretty little cove. If you go mid week, you can miss some of the crowds.

Not crowded, clean...perfect.Close proximity to restrooms, food establishments, too.Good people watching, but from several hundred yards away as opposed to in your lap.

We stayed locally next to the beach. Loved the views and the beach. Pleanty of parking and public restrooms available. Lovely shops in downtown beach area, many open seasonally. Pub and grill available at The Union Bluff with great food. Shells and treasures can be found at times.

Beautiful, clean, small beach. We went in the off season and were delighted to see families and their dogs all playing happily. The people were friendly and considerate of others. NO fee for the beach per se, but there are parking meters to feed.
