For the price ($4 adults and $2 children), this is a good attraction with free parking. It gives an insight into the early days of American aviation and the interactive exhibits are good for children
The CPAA doesn't attempt to match what is available at the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall and the Udvar-Hazy museum near Dulles Airport.
However, as many have pointed out , it is a great hands-on musueum, great for kids and in many respects, probably more fun for children(especially younger ones) than the two larger museums mentioned,...

This is a small museum but it is a great size for a preschool or elementary aged kid trip to learn about and see small planes.
Small museum with not a great amount of materials. Good for children. It pays attention to the Wright Brothers who flew at the airport
This museum is 80% hands ON! There are activities, video games, a plane to climb in and a great staff to show you around! It is better fitting for the YOUNGER kids with things like coloring and stamping and 6 piece plane puzzles. Slightly older kids can enjoy the video games and everyone loves sitting in an old plane :)...

He was so excited and knowledgeable. Lots of interactive things. My kids loved getting dressed in bomber jackets, scarves, helmets and goggles and then going and sitting in the blue plane...

Many aircraft are displayed showing the history of flight since the Wright Brothers, who made an historic attempt at the College Park airfield nearby. Hands-on activities for children. Trained volunteers are eager to share their knowledge.

There is an interesting flight simulator and other hands on things to keep you busy. The history is presented in an interactive way with video and buttons to push. There's stuff...

Our 2 year old loved this place. Small, cheap admission, and lots of activity centers and hands on for little ones. A previous commenter said there was a military discount but we asked today and they no longer offer it. Not too disappointed though, because it's so affordable!
