Great information on attractions, restaurants, eateries, and destinations around the cumberland area. The second floor is the lobby for the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. First floor is visitor center plus C and O Canal National Park museum. Walk Cumberland goes thru here. Bike trail for C and O and Allegheny Trail connect here. Cumberland Visitor Center is in the bottom of the railway depot. They have information and maps on tourist attractions, lodging, dining and activities in the area. You can also get the free parking pass for the lot here. The hidden gem is a small museum on the C&O Canal. (It's free, but donations are accepted.) If you are doing any... More

This place is tinny and not much of a visitors center like most visitor centers are like. At least you'll learn some history of Cumberland though. There are a lot more things to do in Cumberland than going to the visitors center. If you like riding bikes the C&O Canal or The Great Allegheny Passage.

Good history exhibits. Worth time, but do not need more than an hour. Staff had some knowledge of current status of C & O. If you are going on the C & O, ask them if there are any detours, advisories that are not on websites.

Stopped at the CVC on the way to Savage River Lodge. Were pleasantly surprised by the excellent exhibits and friendly staff.

We were in Cumberland for the first time in many years. Of course we made our first stop the Cumberland Visitors Center. It is very clean and well presented. They have a nice museum on the C&O Canal and the people and boats that were a part of that time in Maryland history. Both of the centers information people knew... More
