Varied and unusual interiors in the home of an eccentric and prolific collector. The waterfront setting is gorgeous, and it's a wonderful place to visit on a fair day and enjoy the recently restored gardens. Look out for special "Nooks and Crannies" tours offered by Historic New England which allow access to rooms not usually included in the general tour.

This is a must see when in Eastern Point. Mr. Sleepers unique talent, taste, and ingenuity are magnificantly showcased in his own home. Everyone who tours this house returns home with grandiose redecorating plans in mind.

We toured this place in early fall. Our tour guide was very interesting and told you many details about the life of the owner. The rooms had different themes, some from the Elizabethan period. The owner collected bottles and some of the themes were to show off his collections. He took some of the wood out of homes that were... More

My wife and I love to visit historic houses. This is a very unique house as the original owner, Mr. Sleeper, built rooms to showcase his interior design capabilities for his clients. The tour was excellent and lasts about an hour. It is right on the water on Eastern Point. It is one of the most unusual houses we have... More

We didn't get to see it because it was closed! They close for the season on October 15th. However, it was a BEAUTIFUL drive there and I am so glad we read the reviews it ignore the "PIvate Drive" signs that lead to the museum and the Eastern Point Lighthouse. Well worth the trip even though the museum was closed!

The Beauport/Sleeper house and museum is very unique - with an interesting history. Each room is different - some spectacular. Located on the bay with a great view. Tours are every hour on the hour - so be on time.

This home at the end of Eastern Point Road is a wonderful place to spend the day. It has a myriad of interesting rooms with exceptional glassware and antiques. It has one of the "Don't Tread on Me" flags from the American Revolution. There are intimate bedrooms with added baths that face the sea. The windows look out onto Gloucester... More

We're Massachusetts residents who live not far from Gloucester, but we'd never heard of the Beauport until we visited it yesterday. Wonderful house, with great views of the harbor. So interesting, with every room different. Excellent tour guide. Tours leave every hour and take about an hour. This was the highlight of our trip to Gloucester, without a doubt.

The Beauport musuem is worth a visit. It offers beautiful views and the tour of this house is very interesting. The tour takes about an hour and the guides give you a very good look at the life and home of this very interesting man.

At least Mr. Sleeper would have used that word to describe his abode if he was alive today. Each room packs with eclectism, genius and common sense. Apparently, he was a pioneer and purveyor of recycling as evident in his reuse of trashed items to objets d' art. The house is not your typical mansion but at forty plus rooms,... More
