Ii wouldn't try to go near it in summer unless I had parked the car somewhere else. It is a nice scene but certainly I have seen marinas and boat houses just as nice. It is said to be "the" spot for painters because of the changing lights but for everyone else Ii wouldn't make a special trip

If I hadn't read other reviews, I'd probably have missed this completely! I guess this is cute, about a 5 min walk from the intersection of Main St and Bearskin neck... but I wasn't sure what the attraction was... I guess it's quintessential New England coastal town? But I prefer the slight buzz of Bearskin Neck. You can do both.... More

It's the subject of so many paintings, hence the name. Blown down it's been rebuilt and remains a visual reminder of the lobster industry so long a part of the town.

Well, it's a house. With nice surrounding. A photo op. not more. The area though is amazing. So don't expect much of this but as part of the whole experience in rockport heck yeah.

Visited Motif Number 1 in heavy rain. claimed to be "the most often-painted building in America". Rockport is a very cute small town. Hope to revisit in summer time, to watch the whale and fish the salmon.

While on a loop tour of Cape Ann and the Gloucester area, we found this legendary site with little effort. We parked in a public parking lot opposite the sun-faded, rust-red fishing shack on Bradley Wharf. Available spaces were few. We walked to its edge for an unobstructed and close-up view of this popular, often-painted, often-photographed, rustic waterfront icon of... More

A lovely, often photographed, "landmark" in Rockport. A great nautical backdrop for your vacation picture!

Rockport is what you envision as your typical New England town, the quaint little shops, clapboard houses, sea views, lobster traps. Motif #1 adds to that scene and provides a nice photo opportunity. It was used in the movie," The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock. The surrounding area is nice for a stroll with little shops and restaurants, etc.

Wow, I didn't realize how famous this building was until we came back from our New England/Canada Cruise. One of our ports was Gloucester Mass. I researched it and decided that it would be nice to go to Rockport. We were able to find a local bus which took us there right after we left the ship. Rockport was a... More
