This is a great place to take kids. As you enter the fort you are immediately taken back to the early 1800s. There are demonstrations throughout the day. Children learn what is was like as a child during that time. They even have games from the 1800s.

The fort is a remarkable recreation of what life was like in the 18th century. The cast members are terrific and do a great job role playing. There are several live demonstrations including cooking, craft making, cannon firings, and musket shooting. It's very educational and quite interesting for all ages.

My family had fun there on our last visit to the straits. This was a great attraction for the kids with the weaponry demonstration. The staff was very nice and welcoming. It was a bit pricey to get in(we are a family of six) but it was worth it to creatively educate my babies!

We visited early in the "season" with young children. It is a lot of walking, but there were quite a few places to rest. The actors (?) and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There was more to do than just wander and look at {which was a pleasant surprise}. The live fire demonstrations may be too loud for small... More

We visited the week before the island closed for the winter in October and the day that the fort was closing. We pretty much had the island and the fort to ourselves. There is a loooong ramp to get to the entrance, then a lot of walking and steps to get into the buildings. I believe it is handicap accessible... More

As part of our summer vacation we stopped by the fort for part of the day and are extremely happy we did so. The Fort was extremely interesting with live demonstrations and reanactments and neat little historic buildings. The girlfriend really enjoyed it and we were able to take many memorable pictures. Also there is a great view of the... More

I really like history and artifacts. I could have stayed here for half of the day. There is so much to see and do. My wife liked the mock wedding ceremony. I liked looking at all of the artifacts and reading about the history of the area. This is very educational and even though we don't have kids, it would... More

This is a beautiful historic family activity. The reinacters are wonderful and very friendly. They allow the children to participate in their activities. I remember touring this fort when I was a child and enjoy taking my daughter there to have the same experiences. It is still an active dig site so there is always something new!

Bathrooms could be a little easier to find without having to walk so far to use one, but they were reasonably clean. The fort was worth the admission and I we will likely do that again in warmer weather. We stayed at the Grad Hotel and that was nice too, also ate at the Woods and the experience was enjoyable... We visited for fright night with our 4 year old and had a good time there was multiple camp fires and they were serving free hot apple cider. I thought it was a good idea about the lanterns, if the building had a lantern hanging it was safe for children meaning there were no ghost in the building if it... More
