My wife and I set sail for their 3 o'clock sail and it was a little chilly, but that was expected for the time/season. Check in is right behind the children's museum at a little cabin and instead of using the provided chairs and shade tent, we chose to stand in the sun while we waited for our shuttle to... More

We started on a three hour tour on our vacation through Michigan...When we found out in a few weeks there was a couple of days cruise..we signed up and came up again from Ohio just for that...This will be our third year in a row going on the windjammer...we always get the same room,so it is like our little honeymoon... Our family really enjoyed being on the water, taking in the beauty of Lake Michigan. If you have about three hours to spare and are looking for something to do, make sure to include this in your plans. It was very neat to be able, as passengers, to be able to help raise the sails. We also got to steer... More

I've just returned from a 4 day Wine Tasting Cruise on the Tall Ship Manitou. It was an awesome experience all around. Captain Dave and the crew were the ultimate in hospitality, kindness and skill. I loved watching the crew work the ship - their love of sailing and experience with windjammin was clearly evident. The ship was impeccably clean,... More

My husband and I went on the micro-brew and pizza sail on September 2, 2012, and we had a great time. It was a beautiful evening and there were many people on that particular cruise but, once we set sail and could move around, it was quite entertaining - a fun time to people-watch! It was a relaxing and very... More

two hour sail --- never lost sight of dock asked everyone to arrive 30 min before ---- because you are not allowed to walk across the street to the dock end result --- if you are "good little boys and girls" then you get to sit out in the open (no shade) for 30 minutes and wait (dockside -- no... We did not have time for a sailing trip on the Manitou so thought it would be nice to at least take a picture of the ship when we were going through Traverse City. Wrong! We parked the car and walked toward the ship but were stopped by "security" and not allowed inside the fence unless we had paid for... More

Tall Ship Manitou leases our dock space from the municipal utility, "Traverse City Light and Power". A STRICT PROVISION of this lease agreement states that we are responsible for preventing members of the general public from entering the premises unless they are passengers on our vessel. This is required by the utility as a safety precaution for an area that... More

The weather cooperated to the nth degree today for our 2 hour afternoon sailing-clear blue skies, breezy enough to catch the sails, and warm but not hot sunshine. That being said, the sailing was wonderful due to the friendly crew, the pristine upkeep of the ship, beautiful scenery, and an ample choice of beverages. Icy cold water is provided at... More

How about a 5-course wine tasting with a WONDERFUL Mediterranean buffet dinner as you sail the bay? A two-hour sunset cruise that was WORTH EVERY PENNEY! The wine, the food and the crew were an absolute delight! The crew are young, but fun and quite capable, with the steady captain behind the wheel. WOW, what a mistake if you don’t... More

We caught a day sail on an overcast, but thankfully breezy day. Captain Dave and the crew were great hosts and a joy to spend time with, being patient and informative with everyone on board. Traverse has got to be among the most beautiful places on earth in the summertime and I can't imagine a better way to see it... More
