Worth a stop if you are spending a few days in Duluth. Beach is great! Water is not always warm. :) Sometime in mid-late Summer it heats up.

We take a break at Park Point... great for a picnic! Pick up some specials from Canal Park restaurants (see DEALS in Duluth website) and wait for the ships and kites to roll on by. Nice addition to a weekend away.
A stroll by the big lake in the fine sand of park point is worth the drive. Keep going east and you will find blueberries when in season... worth the trip just for that.
When you walk up the slope & down the path to the beach, you will feel the lake breeze & hear the lapping of the waves. It's like no where else around. Birding is excellent. There is a nice hiking trail past the airport -- but be wary of poison ivy.
We really liked the beach and little playground. We didn't walk on the nature trail, but we did walk along the beach and found a geocache. Really beautiful spot.
While the kids love the sea gulls and people feed them non-stop, I am less inclined to want to share my space with so many birds. Very clean and entertaining time while we were there, though. Watching the people and the ships and boats is lots of fun. Lake Superior speaks for itself.
On a hot Duluth day you'd almost think you are "sunning" on an ocean beach. It's a large sandy beach just over the Aerial Lift Bridge...a nice break when canal park gets busy
Consider walking the sandy beach of Park Point to get away from the 'hustle and bustle' of more touristy things in Duluth. 'Bring your binoculars for long distance viewing. A telephoto lens is a must for great pictures. Early morning and late afternoons are best for pictures.
The beach is my favorite place to be so imagine my delight in finding that Duluth has a beach!!!!! It is fun to drive over the lift bridge. What soft and deep beach sand! Could sit there for hours and just enjoy the view!
Great beach to walk with my wife. Lake Superior is cool to swim in, although many were the day we were there. The sound of the waves is so relaxing and a nice place to leave life behind.
