I recommend visiting this historical site at least once. The house and gardens are beautiful and the museum is pretty interesting. This was definitely an important place in U.S history and its worth visiting.

Tip: We parked at the lot on Hanover Street as it is only five dollars for no matter how many hours you will be there, and we walked over the couple of blocks to the Moffatt Ladd house. If you have trouble walking, this might be too far for you. However, if you are a walker, this is an easy...

Went with my husband and kids this summer. After 5 minutes into the tour, I was firmly asked to leave my pocketbook at the "front desk." I wasn't given any reason. I was a bit taken back. Wonderful tour-warm and knowledgeable staff-fantastic woodwork and wallpaper. I would love to own all the furniture!
A little heavy on family lineage, may be interesting to some, not so much to us. The architectural nuances and wallpaper have to be seen to be believed.
Beautifully situated site....right on Market Street in Portsmouth. Lot's of weddings are booked here in their wonderful gardens. Operated by the Colonial Dames....they've done a great job keeping the property up to high standards. Nice tour with lots of info on the family who built and owned the house.
My family members help maintain the gardens here, and they gave us the "nickel tour" of this beautiful historic site. Just to see the gaze on the historic HorseChestnut tree, that was planted from seed brought back from the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia is pretty cool. Definitely worth a visit.
Our tour guide was excellent and it was only the two of us on the tour, so it was our own private tour! Beautiful home in the process of being restored from it's 1794 beauty. Wonderful gardens. Cute gift shop. Amazing furniture and woodwork details in the home
This 1763 home and garden is a worthwhile tour while in Portsmouth. Captain John Moffatt built an impressive 3 story house on the waterfront and 6 generations of his family lived there. Moffatt's daughter married William Whipple, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, who lived there also. The tour guide was very good and the gardens are...
