We were there for the Annual Birding Festival and did an early morning walk guided by Pete Dunne of the Cape May Bird Observatory. The entire fall festival is an awesome experience, but going on this walk with Pete was fantastic. When he says we had a productive day of birding, you know it had to be a good walk!... More

We took a guided tour with the NJ Audubon and saw many new species of birds- they had removed the invasive species of plants, and we got tips on where to find a monarch roost in Cape May Point

This was one of the best experiences down in Cape May! We saw so many creatures in the relatively short time we were there. We saw beavers, muskrats, turtles, crabs, fish, sea birds, geese and the magnificent swans, and more. We has a fly-over of the swans, and the sound they make is amazing! It is a pretty short walk... The Meadows is a nature area where, depending on what nature and her critters feel like doing, you may see a lot or a little. For someone who can't or doesn't like to do a lot of walking, it should be manageable, approximately 1 1/4 miles if you walk the whole area, which is basicly a rectangle shaped walking path... More

The Meadows is one of the best places for shorebird birders in Cape May. Our walk out to the beach yielded sightings of endangered Piping Plovers, Black Skimmers, and Least Terns, all nesting within easy photography distance of the marked path. Because of the barriers, the birds seem fairly unconcerned about human activity on the paths, so we were able... More

It helps to go with knowledgable birders so you'll be there when it's really 'hopping'!

The ponds here in the Meadows hold waterfowl in the winter, waders all year 'round, and the open sky is great for watching hawks stream overhead on their way southward. September is arguably the best time to go. We had a day with over 100 falcons passing overhead in a matter of 2 hours. Very cool!
