Definitely challenging! But well worth the effort. View was amazing at the top. Some interesting history to learn about as well.
The $10 fee was a little high- we would have preferred about $7 or $8. The views are beautiful. The hike off the first viewpoint is steep- my 4 year old did it but it was a little scary. This hike was somewhat challenging, as it was quite rocky on the trail and a steep, uphill hike all the way. It took us almost 1.5 hours to make the climb, but we were glad we did, as the view was breathtaking. The walk back down when much faster, about 55 minutes.
really enjoyed the views, went to the summit, walked the last 200 yards to the top, was great. Makes for some great picture taking. There are a lot of spots to stop and take in the views, picnic tables and historic artifacts. $10.00 for a car load, "worth It"
Easy to drive by and miss this wonderful break from the general touristy-ness of the town. $10.00 fee per car (not per person) goes towards supporting the NYS Parks system which helps maintain wild spaces in the state. There are always a lot of people up here. Scenic, but there are better place to hike in the adirondacks.
