This zoo was good for the kids and great as far as being able to get up close to the animals and view them. Great place to spend a day with the family.
In the interest of full disclosure I am not a big fan of traditional zoos. The cages always look too small. The Seneca park zoo is slowly moving towards bigger spaces for their population. It is in an urban setting but they have done quite a bit. I am waiting for the poor orangatang (sp?) to get better space! (Beware... More
Many improvements have been made....A great elephant and lion enclosures. A nice visit for a family, although one may consider it pricey. Zoo still has a very old main building in need of replacement. Zoo is fun and there are many animals to see, but when compared to others of similar size it does rate that high.
We got very lucky and had a beautiful Saturday in October (felt like early September) when we were visiting Rochester for other reasons, so we decided to try out the zoo with our 5 year old. It was a great decision. First- the zoo itself is a great size for a 5 year old. It's in a beautiful setting, so... More
I'm not a great zoo fan, prefer to see animals in natural habitat etc, but I guess there is some argument in their favour and I have to say that most of the animals on display appeared to be in good health and condition and not exhibiting too many signs of stress. The zoo is clearing developing and attempts are... More
This is a wonderful "small" zoo, yet quite varied in its exhibits. The environments attempt to give the animals the best space they can. The rhino and big cat enclosures were designed to give visitors lots of viewing access without encroaching on the animals. Zoo docents are abundant and willing to talk knowledgeably about their animals. Easy foot access to... More
I personally recommend this place because zoo's don't have age limits at all, everybody can enjoy a zoo. We went in winter so some animals had to be in climate appropriate rooms but There's animals from all over the world so it's a really interesting place to go. The zoo is quite big but you get a map in the... More
Zoo is much better than it was 5 years ago! Like the new addition. My child loves the lion bus and the elephants. Not always a lot of places open to eat, seems to be hit or miss on time of day. Suggest you pack a lunch.
I attended ZooBrew for the first time this past Friday and I was astounded! It was absolutely wonderful and a great idea for the community and the zoo! We loved the food and beverages and of course the animals! This is just what Rochester needed....it was clean, professional, a festival type atmosphere and the $10 admission ticket was affordable, appropriate... More
This zoo has come a long way. I love down the street from it and every year, i enjoy seeing what new additions they have. The newest big thing of this zoo is the safari area. They made a whole section look like an african safari with the proper animals. The coolest part is the area where the lions are,... More
