From going to the public market with my grandfather as he sold vegetables among all the Italian immigrants...to taking my sons, out of town visitors and now my new wife.... I love the place! The hustle bustle and crowds are a backdrop to an enormous selection of foods and plants at a good old fashioned barter price.... And that's the... More

the market was a lively place to visit, even on a cool april morning. it was recommended by some locals, and definitely worth a visit. there are your typical fruit/veggie/honey vendors, cheap import vendors, bagels, fantastic empanadas, seafood vendors, vineyards with samples...i could go on and on. it was fun and lively, and possibly the best thing to do early... Many people only venture over to the market for flower days- every weekend they have something special to offer! Fresh baked goodies, vegetables, fruits, clothing, wine and so much more!

Great variety of local vendors...be selective with your purchases...sometimes I come home and they are "eat now" or throw away tomorrow...great coffee with breakfast and lunch selections...parking can be a little tricky...great place to spend the day with friends and family

The Rochester Public Market is bustling by 7 am on Saturdays. In warmer weather they have the most booths open, but it is still worth the trip in the cold weather because you will not find cheaper, good quality produce anywhere else. Besides foods, they sell clothing and 5 and dime goods, specialty cookware and more. Surrounding the outdoor market... More

Flower Days are a must. The plants are just awesome. The little food stands have great breakfast sandwiches. There are lots of local foods and craft items. Check out Holidays at the Market.

When in Rochester....... skip the big chain restaurants... visit the small interesting cafes/ bistro's and trattoria's but you must absolutely visit the public market downtown. Go when you have time to explore the little nooks. Support the locals!!!

Not fancy, tight parking ( I park outside the market on public street as it is easier, and there are many pedestrian gate entrances along the perimeter), but lots of goods to choose from. The fresh local garlic from Scottsville ---none of that chinese imported stuff! Fresh organic vegetables from the DeMeyer organic farm. Fresh eggs, baked breads, NY apples,... More

We stumbled upon the Rochester Public Market after a visit to Rohrbach's Brewery. What an adventure! From Juan's flavorful empanadas to the assortments of every fresh edible, this was a circus for our eyes and ears. Cheeses, jellies, flowers, and candles were just some of the surprises among the colorful fruits and vegetables! http://www.cityofrochester.gov/publicmarket/

We had visited the Market many years ago when we would visit our son living here. When we "retired" here about 15 years ago, it became the place to find my husband on Saturday am. Yes, it's crowded, not antiseptically clean, and the parking is a hassle but so worth the effort. It's a Real farmers market with wonderfully diverse... More
