First time to the museum, after recently moving to Charlotte. Went to see the special exhibit from the Kinsey Collection. Well done! I will return to see other exhibits.
Enjoyed the collection. Of special note was a helpful assistant in the Museum Shop who helped us find the name of the artist of a work we especially liked.
My mom, my friend, and I went here in January for a special exhibit. We highly enjoyed ourselves in the exhibit and the gift shop. The prices were a little high but worth the exhibit. The gift shop prices are a little high as well. I haven't been when there isn't a special exhibit, so I don't know what it... More
My Mother wanted to go for Mother's Day and it was a great time. It was great to see so history regarding Charlotte and the African American community. It is always good to your community's history. We will go back to keep learning. You should go too!

It reminded me of some parts of the civil rights museum in Memphis but on a smaller... More
I visited the center for the America I Am exhibit and enjoyed it thoroughly. It took you through a history of African Americans and their struggles and successes.
Was visiting family in Charlotte and I expressed a desire to come here. Sister-in-law has lived in Charlotte for over 30 years and she hadn't been here, so she came with us! WHAT a pleasant surprise. Central location and 3 terrific exhibits enjoyed by the 3 of us. Adored the portraits by Julie Moos....and the black and white photography of... More
Was there for a Democratic Nat'l convention event. Had not visted before... I could not even bother with all the hoopla of the DNC because I wanted to keep looking and learning from ALL that the Gantt center had there. From vital civil rights exhibits to James Brown's shoes. Will return again and again.
This is a pretty good museum to visit. I had a group of ladies and my family travel with me to see the "America I Am" exhibit. This exhibit was very different from the one we saw in San Francisco, CA. But overall, a good one to see. The museum does get various exhibits. Suggest that you review the website... More
