While in town on business, I attended a concert at the historic Carolina Theater. The venue is stunning and intimate--ideal to see a music concert.

Caught Boz Scaggs in May. The largest crowd in the building's history. Great venue in a historic place. Sat in the upper balcony near the back. Acoustics are not good there so either pay more to sit in a better location or be willing to settle for poor sound quality.
This is one of the smaller venues I've been too, but that makes every seat in the house a good one. I saw Pat Benatar there and it was awesome. I had seats in the center orchestra section and they were clean and comfortable. I could see the stage in real life without the need for large screen displays. The...

We saw several films in the theater while at the Full Frame Documentary film festival. The sight lines everywhere were great, even in the second balcony. The theater is beautifully restored.
Visited while covering the outstanding Full Frame Film Festival this past weekend. With 1000 comfortable seats and two balconies with fine sightlines, an ideal venue for cinephiles and a subtle elegance that adds a special touch of nostalgia and charm that is so rare in the multiplex era.
Carolina Theatre is a fun place to go for movies, concerts and events of all types. Prices are very reasonable, good movie choices and extremely friendly staff ready to help. The venue is historic -- recently renovated. Acts that they attract include Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, Carol King and Keb'Mo. The Documentary Film Festival in April is fabulous, drawing crowds...

I love the Carolina Theater. I'm from the northeast where Broadway and theaters are a mainstay and the Carolina Theater is the closest thing that I have to that here. Whether performances, plays, or independent films, it's always a good time when I go.
We have almost stopped attending due to the cost of tickets. But, the few times I have gone with a group of ladies I have had a wonderful time and the folks are so kind and put so much work into their presentations. But, as retired folks, the tickets for all art performances seem to be getting more and more...

Always have great independent events and film festivals. I met Rue mclanahan there and saw the GLBT film festival. Very edgy
Short and simple: no commercials before the movie! No sound bleed-through from other theaters, as in a multiplex! Great snacks, including wine, beer, and hot drinks (especially appreciated on a cold night)! History, tradition, and wonderful atmosphere! Friendly, helpful, and personable staff! Reasonable prices! Clean, spacious bathrooms! Convenient parking! Fun downtown location with plenty of places within walking distance if...
