Went on Mother's Day for a picnic. It was crazy busy with Mother's Day and new Duke graduates, but it was still absolutely beautiful. Exceeded our expectations.

We had a great time in the garden as three generational family looking at gardens and feeding the ducks. Highly recommended when in Durham.

I spent 3 hours walking pretty much non-stop and still didn't see everything! It is truly a magnificent piece of paradise on Earth! It is a place to revisit over and over as the colors change weekly. A beautiful backdrop for any type of photos: wedding, prom, engagement, etc. Also, a marvelous place to picnic, read a book, or just... More

These are absolutely lovely gardens. Anyone interested in beautiful gardens and places of tranquility should make a visit. If I lived in Durham I would visit these gardens often. While we were there in May the Terrace gardens were in full bloom. Turtles were basking and swimming in the pond, mallard ducklings were paddling about, and a great blue heron... More

Duke Garden is one of the top maintained gardens I know. They keep on planting interesting flowers and plants every year. My favorites are American Native plants area. There you can enjoy a little trail and even sit in a little cabin for meditation. Although the large formal garden area is the popular side to the garden, don't forget to... More

My wife and I went here with our seven-month old son to celebrate her first mother's day with a picnic. I wasn't particularly excited but I have to say it was a wonderful day. It was busy, but not crowded, and after walking around the various gardens we decided to have our picnic in a large open patch of grass... More

I had no idea this was so close to our home. It is breathtaking. I went in the spring and the azaleas were blooming. Bring tissues if you have allergies. I can't wait to go back in the summer and fall to see the changes in the flowers.

Beautiful sites and smells everywhere you walk. The Terrace Gardens take your breath away. The peaceful asian pond is exactly that - after walking the gardens a great place to relax and meditate. Definitely a must see if you are in the area. The blooms change regularly so you could never get bored. You could spend hours here, bring a picnic... More

We loved our visit. Beautiful colors although we missed peek blooming by a week or so. Would recommend this attraction to anyone visiting the Durham area. So much plant variety and coloring your eyes don't know what to look at!
