The Palace and next door museum are superior attractions. Great restoration including a magnificent collection of authentic period furnishings chosen from original inventory lists. Tour guides are first rate. We were fortunate to be there mid-week in early May so we had the place nearly to ourselves.

Very good tour of the palace, entertaining and period piece of the first capital of North Carolina. May of the rooms had period furniture with the docent knowledge very informed.

A nice place to enjoy a relaxing walk around beautiful gardens. I would recommend this place in the Spring or Fall when the weather is nicer. It gets very hot here in the summer. However, their July Fourth celebration is worth a visit. The grounds are usually "free" that weekend and it is a stirring event.

We enjoyed our visit to Tryon Palace and the North Carolina History Museum. Our guide to the palace was very professional, keeping us moving through the palace but allowing time for any questions or comments we wanted to ask. She was knowledgeable and humorous as she related the facts as well as some human interest stories and kept it from... More

Tyon Palace consists of numerous historic homes and gardens. The visitor center and museum shop are first class. Spend a day and learn the history of NC's first governor quarters. The town of New Bern is worth the visit.

The guides were informative, knowledgeable and fun. They wore period costumes and seem to really enjoy their job. The gardens were beautiful. We felt like we went back in time.

It was interesting to see how the people lived in those times - the tour guide was very informative. The man who was doing a presentation in the kitchen was humorous as well as educational. The gardens were lovely - with plants that we hadn't seen before. We didn't take the shuttle from the visitor centre, but walked round there... More

This is one of the main attractions in New Bern. It is so well re-enacted and the gardens are spectacular.
