I've seen a couple shows here at this "intimate" theatre, and they have always been a treat. There isn't a bad seat in the house, and from most, you can almost reach out to touch the performers. Edgy material keeps this on my list of places to keep up with current shows at.

I went with a couple of friends to watch a Harry Potter based play - HufflePuffed. It is close to downtown so dinner plans afterwards are possible.

We attended a Burning Coal production for the first time this past week; the 2-part adaptation of Thomas Hardy's "Jude the Obscure" (as a musical, no less). The acting was excellent. The whole experience really transported you to late 19th-century England. We will certainly be returning for other plays in the future.

Wonderful theatre in downtown Raleigh which holds live productions about every 6 to 8 weeks. Some of the plays are brand new world premieres and some are classics but they are always enjoyable. The theater is small enough so that members of the audience feel that they are on the front row, even when they are not. The acting is... More

I've been to many performances at Burning Coal, including seeing "Enron" this past weekend. "Enron" is an excellent example of the unusual and well acted shows they produce. The space is so small you are always close to the action. They consistently perform plays no one else in this area is doing - often edgy and daring, but always engaging.... More
