I discovered this place while fly fishing the Tuckaseegee River outside Sylva, NC. A local fisherman suggested that I try the Heinzelmannchen Brewery. While the place was a little difficult to locate, the effort was worth it; the beer is excellent! I subsequently spent several afternoons tasting their various beers, and eventually returned home to the Midwest with a couple... More

We (two couples) were on vacation in North Carolina and just happened to see this brewery one morning on our way to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. On the way home to our cabin after a day of hiking we stopped in and had a delightful visit with Dieter. We found two brews we liked and even purchased some... More

Small brewery with character. Stopped by on my way home from a great weekend in Asheville. Was early in the morning so only sampled a couple of beers on tap but both were great. Wound up getting a growler of their Maibock which was amazingly good. I've seen some people complain about the price of this breweries growlers and all... More

Nice brewery tour with great people. You can sample a variety of ales and they have some snacks at times. The ales are great, but the owners are better. Sample all the beers and play some cards and talk to the master brewer.

We stopped by this small brewery on a weekend away in Bryson City, NC. It has a lot of character and the beer is good. The brewmaster came out and visited with us for a while and told us alot about the beers in the area. It is a relaxed atmosphere that was perfect for us to spend a little... More

This place is nothing fancy...almost like hanging out in a friend's basement. And that's why I liked it! Concentration is on the beer and that's fine with me. They had some pretzels and dip for snacking, and we played a round of chess. Great stop for beer lovers in Sylva.

We made it a point to try most of the breweries near our vacation rental in Tn. We almost gave up on this one after the mountain pass was closed for snow and we had to back track for an hour! Boy! let me tell you the hour was worth it!!! We met the owner,Dieter, and he could not have... More

Stopped by (park in church lot across street) for some samples and left with a big bottle of birch beer and Oktoberfest brew. I don't enjoy lager type beers but the ones we tested weren't too stout. Owner is pleasant. Had a nice visit.

Heinzelmannchen is located on the back street of Sylva below all of the main street shops. It is a small home grown brewery run by folks who seem to really love what they do. We live in Atlanta and stop by about 6 times a year to fill our growler. They have 4-5 regular taps and 2-3 rotating. The Octoberfest... More

We went to this brewery because I wanted to taste the Root Beer, which I did. It was very good. Vincent gave us a tour and showed us their process of brewing beer. He spent quite a bit of time with us and was very nice and pleasant. We are glad that we went there.
