Nice Plantation to visit on a limited time budget. Small but unique and very informative self guided tour. Will bring family members when they visit.

The tour of the house was interesting but after that we were left to explore the rest of the grounds on our own. We couldn't get into any of the outside buildings even though the signs implied that we could. The basket making and weaving demonstrations were shut completely.
We visited Poplar Grove on a quick visit to Wilmington. As we had our dog with us, and the day was warm, we couldn't tour the house. Instead we walked about the outbuildings, including a barn and tenant farmer's house. We peeked inside, but without tickets couldn't walk inside. The outbuildings are all new construction, and the tenant farmer's cottage...

We enjoyed touring Poplar Grove Plantation, but having been to other plantations elsewhere, we were somewhat underwhelmed. The staff was very pleasant, and the volunteer in the basket making room was incredibly kind and helpful.
I've never been inside the building, but they have great walking/jogging trails (for people and dogs) I take my dog there at least once a month
We loved stepping back to see the history of Poplar Grove Plantation. We toured the house and the guide was great. She was very informative and had great stories. The other parts of the property were great to see as well. Definitely a must-visit in Wilmington.
Fantastic place to step back in history. Really enjoyed seeing the blacksmith, basket making and weaver in action. Love the Farmer's Market on Wednesday's to get fresh local fruits and veggies. They also have lots of expos like car shows, herb fairs and many others. Nice place to visit!

As a person who enjoys history, I liked the tour and grounds of Poplar Grove. The staff was very informative and my young son liked seeing the Blacksmith bend and mold real metal, not to mention the chickens in the back. Great for a short day visit or just to learn more about the history of the area.
Thank you for the nice review! We're so glad you enjoyed your visit.

Our family visited their Halloween Festival over the The plantation was beautiful and the had tons of things to do. However all of the activities were priced separately with no option to bundle them together making the visit a great deal more expensive than we anticipated. Well worth the visit for the haunted house and hayride but save your Pennies...
