We were pleasantly surprised with this self-guided tour. My understanding is this is the only WWII submarine that is open for tours that has not been remodeled for tour access. I took my daycamp children to this submarine because I think it's cool how the submarine IS THE MUSEUM! The kids were wowed at being able to go inside and feel like an actual member of the crew. Spaces are VERY TIGHT though. Great idea.

Been going on the sub since i was a little kid, Now I take my kids on it, they love it. It is one of the few subs that is in its WW-2 configuration no holes cut in to hull for easy entrance you have to enter like the crew did Very cool.

Bigger isn't always better, in fact squeezing through the USS COD, makes you understand what "old submariner's" had as a duty to the rest of us. Been on the Cod at least 12 times. Started going when the museum was fully accessible. Since then, parts of the museum have been sealed off with plexigalss to allow you to see in, and some things like silverware have been stored for protection from theft I assume. Have to admit I had as much fun as my kids did crawling all through this submarine. Like a walk back through history.

Good area,good easy access from expressways. Parking can be difficult. Always nice to piggyback trip with trip to other events and museums in local area.
