- Ann JPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania8 contributionsA feast for the eyes and the stomachMy daughter and I visited on a quick drop into Cleveland. We are from Philadelphia and very familiar with the Reading Terminal Market there (which we love!). The West Side market is a gem and well worth a visit, especially if you love food. Lots of beautiful baked goods, international foods, really fresh meat and fish. We visited on a Saturday morning and parking was surprisingly easy in this urban area. Highly recommend!Visited April 2023Written 1 April 2023
- Siao SPittsburgh, Pennsylvania111 contributionsGreat Market to Look AroundWe enjoyed our visit. They have one building with baked goods, meats, fish, and cheese. And a separate building with fresh vegetables and fruits. Free parking available nearby up to 90 minutes I believe. Worth the visit, even just to look around.Visited April 2023Written 7 April 2023
- Jeffrey KoslowskiCanton, Michigan677 contributionsA Market but a Good Stopping PointThis is a market, pure and simple. If you are looking for a little bit different and exotic, this is a good place to go but don't come in thinking you are going to get a deal. Not to say the food is overpriced but it's not a place to expect a bargain. It is, however, an interesting place to drop in and, for those traveling, an easy place to get some light food that you can carry with you and maintain a semblance of health. The traffic around the area is going to be busy if you are driving. Parking is in the back. The first hour is free (maybe the first 90 minutes, I can't quite remember) so if you go in and go out quick, you should be free. There is also street-level parking. There are two main market buildings. One is more narrow and consists of the fresh fruit and vegetables. The bigger area is the meats, breads, and desserts. Most of the meats are not cooked. It is essentially like any grocery store. There are things you can eat on the go but most of it are foods that require cooking. The best view is up the stairs overlooking the entire main shopping area. You get a really good look at the old architecture and design of the building. Overall, come in for a quick healthy snack to take on the go or for a cute dessert for the young ones.Visited April 2023Written 9 April 2023
- Kathleen KHolland, Ohio4 contributionsFirst timeThis was our first time to visit West Side Market. Parking was close, first 90 minutes free, then charged per hour. One building has one row with fruits and vegetables on both sides. The second building is huge and has many booths with meat, deli items, bakery sweets, breads, and sandwiches. Some places will heat the sandwiches while you wait. Everything looked and tasted good but prices were high.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 April 2023
- Vanessa3 contributionsGreat choices but bewareA great experience over all. I got the best liverwurst I've ever had there! Lots of choices, but beware of Miriam's produce. She really overcharged me and my friend. I think she saw us coming. I was charged $ 68.00 for a bag of grapes, 3 mangoes, and a pineapple. It's definitely my fault for not questioning her, but she was moving quickly and rapidly talking to other customers. The way she weighed the produce and conducted business while her coworker was talking to me reminded me of a con artist as I thought about it later. She was the last vendor I visited and was a disappointing ending to an otherwise lovely experience.Visited July 2023Written 8 July 2023
- c cRichmond, Virginia158 contributionsYou MUST visit hereThis place is GREAT!! but don't go hungry, you'll want to spend the mortgage money on the treats here. Similar of the Reading Market in Philly, a bit smaller scale but just as impressive and mouth-watering..start with abundant, local produce, fresh and varied, and then inside the main hall for EVERYTHING you can imagine. A selection of meats, cheeses, jams, baked goods, most anything you can think of is here for your eating pleasure. I would love to come here weekly and do my food shopping.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 19 October 2023

We were on a time limit, and only purchased a couple pastry's which were delicious. We also purchased a couple of Kitchen utensils which were reasonably priced. We will go back before going homier our time allows.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2024

Never amazes me the choices in this market. Live 20 miles away, but, seem to get there almost every weekend. The meat is cut fresh and the bread is delivered fresh every morning that it’s open.

This is a must visit for anyone touring or visiting from out of town, or locals looking for something unique to do. The entire area surrounding the market has so much to do including unique coffee shops, wine bars, breweries so you can make the entire day super-fun surrounding visiting the market. Historic building, ethnic foods from around the world, You literally can find any kind of specialty food or ingredient or spice on the entire map there. The restaurant there is super fun to sit down for brunch or lunch, and there’s plenty of hot food options if you want to snack at the market as well. Highly recommend the bratwurst stand, the Gyro stand, the hotdog stands. Kids and adults of all ages will enjoy their visit as there’s so much to offer inside and outside of the Westside market.

I love coming here and I really hope the shops here can afford to stay open. It is one of the most amazing historical places in Cleveland and there are so few of these food markets still around in the US. Please come and support the local shops.

There are hundreds of open stands each with different items. Some have prepared food, coffee, there is one selling herbs and spices for cooking, another for cookware, candy, greeting cards. There is a wide variety of booths. There is an outdoor area that is mainly fresh fruit and veggies but inside are many fun things.
Is the market open on Sunday?
Sandy W

Yes it is! We frequently go on Sunday but not all the stands are open.

Do you have to take the tour? Or just come and look around on your own?

There is no tour. Parking in the lot adjacent is free for 90 minutes and after that it is pretty cheap. Explore this wonderful local treasure and surrounding neighborhood for a fun day!

The website states that they are open at 7am, but the vendors seem to all say they start at 8am... I want to go to Ohio City Pasta and the creperie... will those not be open at 7? I can't stay past 8am unfortunately.

The doors may open at 7am— it’s like a mall operation— so the space might be accessible but not the vendors.
