This is an art museum. It has incredible artworks from many sources, gunsmiths, saddle makers, painters, sculptures, and Native Americans.
We spent three hours and did not see it all. A good museum for all ages and abilities but there are no hands on exhibits.
Museum is very cold in some areas - take a coat.
Well worth the admission...

This is a fun place to take the kids. It is very quiet and very cold but has some interesting things to see. If you or your little ones like cowboys and old west items this will be a good place to hit.
wow, you have to go here and plan on taking some time here its not something you want to rush through, the art and exhibits were great and if the weather is fine take a tour of the grounds there is some nice sculpture out there.
A great way to spend a couple hours! The performers gallery is a blast! Great presentation of the history of Westerns...movies, TV and actors. Incredible displays of movie props such as the hat, rifle and eye patch from True Grit. Lots if western paintings, sculptures, guns, clothes, rodeo displays and a western town!
Just beaten by the Leaning Tree Museum in Colorado, as they allowed people to take as many photois as they wished - in fact people were encouraged to do so. Here the opposite is true and that disappointed us a little,
There are many many sections to this museum, developing US life from the time of the cowboys, town life,...

I have family in OKC and have been to this museaum about 5 times. Each time I go, I see and enjoy something different. I like the paintings best, but for those who want to see period clothing, equipment, and firearms, this is a very good museum. If I were in charge, there would be more music from old times...

If you like cowboys (and Indians), this is the place to go. Lots of good historical information and very nice art work, including some of the very best of Western art. The grounds are also enjoyable. Worth a visit.
If you like guns and cowboys this is a place you need to visit at the time there was construction so we were unable to see the whole museum and also I was really disappointed there were not more indian artifacts.
My son and his family and I visited the "cowboy museum" recently and found it a wonderful place to go. It is full of wonderful art works, stories about the Native Americans, early cowboy life, cowboys in the movies and on TV, and so much more. I want to go back!
