Almost being close enough to touch the history of my state. the replicas of drs. offices, mining equipment, old vehicles-so much. The building was a natatorium at one time. Great gift shop.

We were really impressed with this museum given its size and location. There is a display for everyone's taste. The dioramas/exhibition layouts are some of the best I have seen. The rock collection was impressive, and would have been impressive in any large city museum. Plan 1-2 hours depending on how much you like to read the information on each...

This building contains the history of my town. Always love bringing out of town friends here to give them a feel for who we are and why Baker is here. Growing up my favorite exhibit was the black light rock room, and even now, the rock collection is definitely one of the highlights for me.
A very dedicated staff will relate the history of the region. There is such variety from costumes, mining artifacts, gems, furniture, pioneer tools, and more. This was once the site of a pioneer swimming pool and ballroom. Very diverse.
Thank you for your visit and review! We change the exhibits every year, so please come back to see "Baker Bands and High Society" this year in our Central Gallery.

We were impressed by the wide variety of displays and exhibits...Many related to history in the Baker City area and lots of others that could represent the early days of almost anywhere in the United States.
'Lots of specialized exhibits, ie: geology, wildlife, mining....you name it.
After your museum visit, plan on having a picnic lunch in the beautiful city...

This was a fun little museum. Lots of area history exhibits. In fact, its housed in the originsl municiple pool building. Kids especially liked the glow in the dark rock exhibit. There's a nice park across the street too.
I LOVE the history of the towns and cities in Northeast Oregon and I have NEVER been disappointed when visiting a museum. The Baker Heritage Museum is a must see, very well researched and put together with a mass of history.
Like any museum, this is an educational experience. To learn what our city is based upon and how people prospered a hundred years ago is fascinating. The museum has exhibits that embrace local agriculture, farming, the lumber industry, different nationalities and their migrations to Baker, and transportation and communication in the early 1900's. As well as my favorite, the extensive rock collection....

3 hours wasn't enough to see everything. All of the donated items, the amazing rock display, mining, critters, clothing, historical documents, wagons and vehicles, it's overwhelming and we had SO much fun. I would recommend anyone visiting Baker City to visit this museum. VERY well done.
For you history buffs or people who want to see great artifacts go see the museum. Wonderful history of the town and the people who made the town that it is today.
Now I am not a rock hound but they have a great exhibit and make sure you go see the room with the special rocks that glow.... enough...
