We went to Multnomah Falls! Very scenic drive to get there, and hiked to the top. For exercise, go to the top, but for the best views the midway stop is it. Had lunch at the lodge before the hike and found it to be very good.

The gorge is incredibly beautiful-any season. Excellent hiking area but most all the trails have inclines. The loop between Wakeena Falls and Multnomah Falls has 10 waterfalls. It is a 6 mile hike. Pick up other trail maps at Multnomah Falls visitor center - they have free ones if you ask.
Don't miss the Gorge and for an additional treat;...

This is a beutiful area and nice to drive through. You can take the historic highway and view multiple water falls....so pretty.
It is not a hard to figure out why Uncle Ronny Regan designated this as a National Senic Area. there is so much to see and do here, we have spent several days on numerous trips. Curious Gorge is our favorite guide book for the Gorge. Hood River is a great place to base out of, but do get out...

Well worth drive..make sure to hit the historic hwy for best views. So glad we went..was one of our highlights of our visit to Portland.
Beautiful, really, really gorgeous. You must see it! Words don't do it justice. The largest one is overrated and over crowded, Bridal Veil was our favorite waterfall.
Numerous waterfalls and hiking trails easily accessed from the interstate! Tons of photo opportunities. The lake and mountains are picturesque, and the waterfalls cannot be beat.
We didn't have a lot of time, but we relished the scenic drive through the gorge, with a stop at the dramatic Multnomah Falls, complete with the historic lodge.
A truely beautiful spot. Easy to access from I84. The only down fall is it is very crowded. Depending on how ambitious you are feeling, this can be a quick 30 minute pit stop to stretch road weary legs, or a half day adventure if you want to go all the way to the top. Much less crowded up there.
The way the road is positioned for this drive makes it all worth doing. I kept imagining that this is what Lewis and Clark and Sacawejea say as they came down the river. It is enough to make a non-believer trust that their is some Power out there.
