All of our artisan wines are crafted using grapes from dry farmed, old vine, hillside vineyards. This follows into the cellar where we use extended barrel ageing and fermentation of our reds in patented concrete fermentors. Oregon's most natural and traditionally made wines. Starting 2011 we will be introducing our French inspired fruit Eaux de Vies from Cherries, Apricot, Pear and wine grapes. FROMMERS- Best wines in Southern Oregon. Not sold in stores. This is the oldest winery in the area. There are some very nice wines. It costs $5 per person to taste but you can taste everything on the list and "revisit" the list if you want. When you walk in, it smells like a winery should. The room is large and the server was very fun to talk with. There... More

Hillcrest Winery has an incredible winemaker Dyson DeMara, who shares his passion and knowledge about wine in a very entertaining and educational manner. Dyson consistently makes the most amazing wines. We have been visiting the Hillcrest Winery for many years and always enjoy experience and the wines. Dyson's dry farmed vineyard produces grapes of amazing complexity. He uses old world... More

The Native American sculptural garden is upstaged only by the ancient, moss-encrusted vines...in the poorly cared for vineyard. That probably says it all. The attention here is in the shop, not the vineyard, where wines are really made, but there, in the shop, sorry to say, the wines are very uneven. The whites are terrible. This can't be stressed too... More

And I mean that in a good way. Hillcrest is small and claims its the oldest estate winery in Oregon. Nice owners that pour and educate you on their wines. It is partly "dry farmed" meaning most of the moisture to grow the gapes comes from mother nature. It can "stress" the grapes and yields some very flavorful, if not... More

We learned so much about grapes and wine while we were there! The tasting room is in a wonderful old building, and the winemaker was so friendly. This place made us feel like we were home with family.

This was the last of the 5 wineries we toured over a 2-day trip and found the wines at HillCrest to be the best of all. This non-nonsense winery speaks for itself. The dry farming and long aging process create very smooth wines from first sip to finish. Diane was very knowledgeable and treated us as if we were guests... More

Driving to Portland, we decided to pull off in Roseburg and visit a winery. In reviewing what was in the area, Hillcrest sounded interesting because it is the oldest continually producing winery. We pulled in and what a treat! The winemaker/owner, Dyson, greeted us, shared his wines, wine knowledge and the history of Hillcrest. Loved our stop there. Tasted some... More
