This place sucks. Harrisburg sucks (no wonder it went bankrupt a while back). Harrisburg looks like a run-down slum that is dangerous to walk around even in daylight (and this is the capital of PA!). Harrisburg just gives off an unsafe vibe. This market is an dingy indoor block-long place with various food stands...If I didn't know better I'd thought... More

A little more non-food stands than I like, but there are wonderful finds among the many stands of this long-running market.

First off, NONE of the venders take the card. None of them!! There are 2 ATM mechines, and when they work ( I have seen them broke very often, for days at a time) Its a $3.50 charge just to use them! I used to like the ribs that were there. Now the people who make the ribs I believe... More

I will admit, this one took me some time to get interested in visiting multiple times. My first impression focused on the old building, the run down area, and the limited flare. My first impression was wrong however once, I saw past the buildings etc. It is an urban farmers market like those I have visited in Baltimore or phily.... More

One of the two buildings encloses the famers market. Lots of meats and cheeses, cut flowers and vegatables. There were even a couple of "flea market" looking booths with jewelry and odds and ends for sale. I thought it was cool to see all of the Amish men and women working with the foods and selling their wares. I could... More

The oldest farmer's market in PA still stands and provides fresh food for urban people in central PA. Some stands have been occupied by the same families for 75 years. Others bring new items to shoppers. Easy parking is helpful for open days Thursday - Saturday.

While this market may be par for Harrisburg, it's a bit dingy for my tastes. While all the meat products and baked goods from Lancaster area locals seemed like quality products, the overall building and its cleanliness left much to be desired. The west building is a real horror, please avoid it.

I was really surprised when I went to "The Market" as locals call it. I expected high prices and alot of showy smoke and mirrors like other farmer's markets I've been to, but really there were some nice stands there and the people working were super friendly and wanted to talk about food!!! They had everything in the produce stand,... More
