I was glad we took time to stop in this little museum of Litiz. Our tour guide was Dutch and very helpful. We practiced making our own pretzels. Although they were not baked and we could not take them, it was a lot of fun.

Stopped here on our way to Lancaster and had a great time. Staff is kind and informative. The tour was short but interesting providing a history of pretzels and the bakery. Stop hear for a good local place and some delicious pretzels both soft and hard.
Having moved here from Iowa over a decade ago we made several obligatory trips with visiting family to the "Pretzel house". The tour, as I remember it, back then was rather lame. The one I took today with my Japanese exchange student daughter and her classmates and their teacher was full of information and fun. Our guide, Della, was very...

The tour is rather short, inexpensive, interesting and a fun way to learn some new things about pretzels. I didn't care very much for the soft pretzel myself, but I loved getting to learn how to roll a pretzel, and getting a certificate.
The visit to the Sturgis Pretzel House Factory was very interesting and our guide was great. She was very knowledgeable and showed us all how to twist our own pretzel. The town of Litiz is full of history and the homes and museum was great. Would have like to stayed longer in the town.
We loved this tour! We learned who invented pretzels and why, we learned to shape our own pretzels, we learned all about Julius Sturgis and how he came to America to open the first pretzel factory. The tour guide was excellent, she knew everything there is about pretzels and was funny and entertaining. We even got Official Pretzel Twister certificates!...

We walked over to Julius Sturgis after a visit to the chocolate store and the park. It's located in an old traditional house, with nice historical pictures and a gift shop. The whole tour takes place in one large room, where you "make" your own pretzel and learn about how pretzels were made then and now in Lititz PA. Each...

Tour provides 10 min history lesson on the pretzel followed by a demonstration of how to make one using playdough ( not real dough). A quick look at the old ovens and then the obligatory gift shop.
Located in historic (and very touristy Lititz), this is the site of the first commercial pretzel bakery in the USA. The "house" was built in 1784 and is one of the oldest structures still standing in Lititz, having been built using stones dug up from the road and timber from the nearby woods. It is a very quaint building.

The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery is one of those enjoyable little stops on a family trip. Though pretzels are no longer made there, the original home of Julius Sturgis's pretzel bakery includes all the original rooms and material used in baking pretzels. Visitors learn how to "tie" pretzels, and then see how the dough is made and the pretzels are...
