The views of the city were amazing. Well worth 3.50 for a round trip ticket. Glad we rode it, this is a must do for anyone visiting Pittsburgh.

I truly enjoy seeing things from way up high, and this is a fun way to do that! People use it for their daily commutes, which I think is pretty cool, and it's an inexpensive ride up to a part of Pittsburgh you would likely otherwise miss!
A few weekends ago, I visited Pittsburgh for the first time, and the Monongahela Incline was a must do on my bucket list. I really wanted to ride up to the top during the daytime, though a Pittsburgh friend suggested that the view is better at night, so I decided to go then.
Before visiting, I had done some research...

The absolutely splendid view of this gorgeous city (especially under a blue sky and in the spring) simply must be preceded by the long, laborious, creaking (and sometimes shaky) acutely angular ascent up Mt Washington. Sit in the lowest seats, right in front of the window so your gaze comprehends more and more of the Golden Triangle, Heinz Field and...

I've been on both inclines and found this one to be even better than the other one! The view at night is amazing. There are also some cute bars/restaurants a block away once your at the top! Don't miss this when in Pittsburgh!
very nice, with parking right at the bottom, and 3.50$ round trip.
NOt much else to see - unlike very interesting museum and gift shop at dusquene incline, which is .9 miles further down Mt. washington.
the advantage of this incline over the other is ease of parking right at the bottom.
but if you are able, take one up,...

the amazing thing about this remarkable ride is that folks do it every day getting to and from work... we just can't imagine taking such a trip for granted... but for altophobes, don't look down!
Our family of four enjoyed taking the incline up and then down the hill. Do remember to bring exact change since no change is given when you pay at the top of the hill (not at the bottom). We walked along the road and went out on the balconies overlooking the city. The views are really great. The incline goes...

A quick trip up the incline provides for a beautiful view of Pittsburgh! Easy to get to and fun experience for all ages. Grab some ice cream at the top.
Returned home to Pittsburgh for a visit after 20 years. Previously I had used the incline as transportation off of the mountain and would walk the Smithfield Street bridge to downtown daily. I had never really appreciated the experience or the view as I was only concerned about getting to work on time.
The incline and view from the overlook...
