Be sure to get a 2-hr parking pass from the booth that is near the museum. Unfortunately that means if you would like to linger longer, you feels as though you are risking a ticket! My favorite part of the museum was a new exhibit with silver jewelry and wool weavings of the Turkemon (nomadic people occupying present day Turkmenistan,... More

Cool little place to go. Not quite what you would expect in the heart of University of Tennessee's campus, but a pretty neat place to stop by. Won't take you long to tour through, but they have some interesting things to see and a nice gift shop.

The McClung Museum has an incredible, permanent Egyptian display, and a super display of Cherokee Indian artifacts and history. For a free museum, in a "scruffy little city," you can't go wrong visiting this museum. The kids will love it, too!

This museum has some unique exhibits that are worth checking out. I enjoyed the bird prints that are housed in unique slide-out cases. It's not too large, so you can easily see most of it in a couple of hours.

This museum is one of the best kept secret jewels in Knoxville. I would go back again and again just to marvel at the amazingly gorgeous bronze statue rising out of the stairwell. I was very impressed with the array of interesting displays.

Cherokee Indians, Egyptian mummies, decorative arts of the world, the geology of Tennessee, the Civil War battle of Fort Sanders (four blocks away; ask to see the most-excellent video), and buttons from fresh water mussels. It's all here!

Tjis museum, on the UofT campus, has six different exhibit areas with many different exhibits. From how man evolved to Egyptian artifacts to the battle for Knoxville. Very intersting for the hour or so we spent there.

I visit every year or so ... usually in conjunction with a lecture in their auditorium ... most recent was about Buddhism and was a perfect with the first-class (but temporary) exhibit on Zen and Japanese art. Permanent exhibits on ancient Egypt and Human Origins are nicely done ... all the museum craftsmanship is good but other exhibits a bit... More

I know they want us to say a lot but this is a hit for ANY museum. Not sure how they got so much packed into this building but if you want to know anything about this area ... it is in there. Well done and they should be proud to have accomplished such a nice atmosphere
