The guide was witty and informative. Made everyone feel involved even the quiet ones. Fancy touring a gaol that only closed in 2004. Not sure what the animals were for (inmates????) They were pleasant but a bit of a poo dodge at the end. A must do tour when in beechworth.

This building really jumps out at you as you drive into town and is well worth a visit. The history of the building is really interesting and with the Kelly family connections as a bonus, plus it has a gallows still in working order. A very atmospheric place! If visiting in winter be sure to rug up because it is... More

A very informative tour guide who is very knowledgeable of the history of the Gaol. Our group consisted a family with 3 boys who were greatly taken with the tour.

A must do experience in Beechworth. Our guide was excellent and made the experience so very real and memorable. Probably the best example of a goal in Australia from the 1800's and a sobering experience to learn that it only closed in 2004. Takes about one hour and well worth a visit.

Very intriguing tour. Very informative. Poor communication by the owners in promoting times. Person who served us at front counter grumpy.

Ok. First up. This guy is so rude!! The way he speaks to people when you first arrive is horrible. Second, invest in some signs so people know when tours are. Thirdly, get a gardener, place looks terrible. Actual tour was great and good information provided. Just as well after the initial experience when you arrive!

It was disappointing that the shop was not open and the tour times were not advertised anywhere else so had to drive up to the jail to see when tours were. We had just missed the 11am tour decided not to bother.

I go to Beechworth every 12 months and this time we explored Beechworth Gaol. The tour is guided and takes about 2 hours....the time flies by. The guide is absolutely wonderful, very humorous, great stories of incidences that occurred there, combined with very interesting historical facts. This would be one of the most memorable tours that I have been on... More

The Gaol tour was fascinating with information on the history of the gaol and its infamous 'guests'. I didn't know that Ned Kelly's mother was also in the gaol and what her crime was. Nor did I know that Ned Kelly had offered to hand himself in if his mother was released, nor did I know...... I'm not going to... More
