Enjoyed the scenery and the motorcycle experience on the way to ride the Tail of the Dragon. There is one intersection that was not clearly marked as to which direction to take. Some of our group made a wrong turn here.
We opted for a different route into the Pigeon Forge area this trip. If you want a scenic route that offers spectacular views, this route is for you. If you are looking for a quick drive, then find another route as you will need to slow down on this windy road. So worth a few extra minutes. Stop at the...

Beautiful ride on the mountain ridge, with fantastic views of the valleys and mountains on either side. Stop at Look Rock for the best view.
We recently took the Foothills Parkway from Hwy 129 to Townsend. Drive is beautiful--rivals Blue Ridge Parkway in its beauty!

Because of traffic I often drive "around" the Smokies instead of thru it on 411. And yes it takes longer. Natural beauty is not always something...

Beautiful drive, a quick way to the Dragon. Watch for cyclists and motorcycles, we need to share the beauty with all.
Leave the crowds at Clingman's Dome behind and travel along the Foothills Parkway to Look Rock. My son and I wen there early in the morning to watch the sunrise over the Smoky Mountains. We were renting a house in Townsend, TN so it was easy to access the parkway.
