GISP is a relatively pristene natural area, Galveston Island as it once was, that was very near our Silverlead Resort lodging. We especially enjoyed the nature walk and the kids love it all from small bugs to wide wingspread birds!

Galveston is not known for having pristine beaches, so dont expect white sand or blue water. The beach at Galveston Island State Park is mostly clean except for seaweed and driftwood, which is a natural part of the beach. It is much cleaner and more family friendly than the east end or the seawall. The staff does a great job...

the park is great for bird watching, long walks on the shore and spending good time outdoor. Don't forget sunglasses and a hat since there are tall trees for shade.

There are still three camping sections along the gulf (each section now has only about 11 sites for Rv's). I would have given the park a 5/5 star rating, but there is only a...

Galveston Island State Park offers camping, but its great value is in day use. There are clean bathrooms with plenty of room for changing into and out of swimsuits. This park is right on the beach, and the beach is clean and enjoyable. There are picnic tables for visitors to use and they are covered for shade. They are rebuilding...

If tents are allowed on the Gulf side, there weren't any there when we were there. The tent camground we were in is located on the Bay side of FM 3005. Roads in...
