A great place to go on Saturdays with the family. Terrific history (last time we were there they had an actual, working blacksmith making tongs), a pretty setting, and excellent produce and artisans. We love it!

My younger daughter was married at the church at Chestnut Square. The entire area is done most tastefully. Don't miss out on the Saturday morning farmers' market.

We went while there was an event going on and thoroughly enjoyed our day there seeing the homes and other buildings that were open to walk through to get an idea of how life had been. We especially liked the schoolhouse. One of the volunteers made my daughter a corn husk doll that still has a place of honor on... More

If you are visiting McKinney then include a visit to this area of town (it’s downtown also). Personally I would try to go on a week end when some special activity is taking place. The last time we visited the are there was a craft show with hot dogs, ice cream, etc plus lots of crafts and home made items.... More

On Saturdays there is a great outdoor market weaving thru this village of antique homes. The old store has lot of "stuff" & a look into yesterday.

Very enjoyable tour. The volunteers/employees are dedicated and very educated. Had a great time and would take out of town visitors.

Nice place to revisit history but much more fun when they have the Farmers market on Saturdays.

Chestnut Square is a group of historic homes saved from the explosive growth of McKinney development. Guided tours of the homes , hands on crafts, demonstrations of dutch oven cooking and bow carving from native trees were offered. It was a pleasant afternoon. The Dutch oven chef was very informative. I understand the demonstrations vary during the year.

This is a great place to take a relaxing stroll under mature shade trees and peek inside the historic houses. When we were there, not all of the houses were open for public tours but the Two Bit Taylor House was and was very interesting. Chesnut Square is within walking distance of the downtown square just on the other side... More
