Mustang beach may be further but with it. Not only is it cleaner than south padre it is beautiful and more picturesque. Horse back riding is nice just to watch. Go you won't be disappointed.

Went over the weekend. This is a state park with showers and rest rooms. Nothing fancy. Serves it's purpose well. RV spaces are basically an asphalt parking lot but the cost outweighs any negatives. Mustang Island was a great experience. The beach is very beautiful and very clean. It was a nice day so we had a great experience. The children had loads of fun in the sand and in the water.

great spot for overnight camping. About 10 miles to closest grocery. Beach is well maintained. Surf fishing was excellent.

It's just like all the other free beaches except it has an outhouse about every 100 yards. Unless your camping or something it's not worth the entrance fee.

A nice little state park - not a lot of attractions - a mostly deserted beach (in January) which is nice for walking & running - some picnic tables, camping. Nice, quiet, relaxing. We mostly just came to run on the beach & it served it's purpose well.

The park is within walking distance to the beach but the walk is a bit of a trek so pack well for a day at the water so you don't have to make multiple trips. The park itself is nothing spectacular but the location is great!
