River Bend Nature Center (RBNC) is a 20 acre, non-profit environmental education facility. River Bend connects people to their natural environment through educational activities, environmental awareness, and conservation examples. Our most popular attractions are the Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, Peyton’s Place, the Bryant Edwards Learning Center, the River Bottom Forest Trail, and the United Children’s Garden. Peyton’s Place is filled with flowering plants and hundreds of gorgeous, living butterflies. The Bryant Edwards Learning Center contains over 30 live exhibits, such as turtles, salamanders, insects, and frogs. There is always plenty to see and observe! The Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly and Nature Conservatory is a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art, 7,000 sq. ft. glass structure. It is home to prairie dogs, fish, turtles, and butterflies, and is landscaped with prairie grasses, trees, shrubs, and wildflowers of the Rolling Plains. RBNC has over 17 acres of bottom land forest, trails, gardens, and wetlands. Come on out and see River Bend Nature Center, it is truly a special place to explore and learn. « less

Visited this during the Christmas Light display and was quite impressed. Begin in the glass enclosed nature center then walk down the hillside on paved trails through the woods. Along the way you visit many different lighted displays. Very festive.

I went with a school group. Most of the experience was walking through the center. Not much for the children to view. Some of the items didn't appeal to younger children. They didn't have any butterflies, so this was disappointing. Wouldn't want to return.

We've been here twice now - once with our child and once with our nieces and nephews. It's a great place for kids, with several different themes throughout the center; spiders and snakes near the entrance, and more of a "tropical" theme in a separate area. There are some cute little games for the kids (stamping, building little crafts), and... More

If you are in Wichita Falls, this is a must see. A small nice center, very welcoming, well kept and educating for all ages.

Visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Because of the time of year, plants and flowers were not at their best. Staff in gift shop were great. A young lady told us about some of the inside caged reptiles. Even let us touch them. The butterfly house was dull. The few butterflies were a bright spot. Plants were sparse.. Well worth... More

They have made many upgrades to the place over the last few years. It used to just be a nature trail with a gift shop, but now they have many small scale events there. They have a beautiful pavilion and terrace that they rent for weddings.
