This museum is state of the art with some of the world's great aircraft, including an actual shuttle that has been there, done that. While the downtown facility has the original Spirit of St Louis and a Wright Flyer, there are more than enough historic aircraft at Udvar-Hazy to make it unique (Including the B=29 Enola Gay of Hiroshima). All... More

I am glad we waited to visit this museum, which has been open for 10 years. The displays are more extensive than in 2002. We had time to spend prior to a flight at Dulles Airport, located adjacent to the facility. It was not crowded until later in the afternoon when various school groups were visiting. I highly recommend the... More

It's amazing to see how many planes and spacecrafts are displayed here, from military to commercial to the Space Shuttle. Lots and lots to see, so take your time and take it all in. You will also find the Concorde and Enola Gay here. The museum is free but you pay for parking which is about $15. Take the elevator... More

Our family has been here repeatedly and it always impresses. The space shuttle is fascinating along with the SR-71 Blackbird and the World War I and II airplanes. Then, our kids enjoy going out to the tower and watching the active planes roar low overhead to land at nearby Dulles Airport. This museum is for both the airplane enthusiast and... More

This is a great place. I have been several times and take people there who come to visit me. There are some of the first aircraft and many that made history in my time. There are several simulators that let you feel that you are flying through outer space. Take time to see one of the IMAX movies. Some are... More

After visiting the air and space museum in DC more times then I can count we were ready for a change. We all loved the free tour that was given. Although it was two hours my eight year old son never lost interest. At least one Saturday a month they have hands on activities for children.

Take time to see one of the IMAX movies. Totally enjoyed all the displays. Very well put together for such large items to work with. It was a nice way to view aviation and space travel all through the years! Highly recommended for all ages. Take at least 3 hours, time to watch an IMAX as well.

The Space Shuttle Discovery is here in all it's glory. If this was the ONLY exhibit - I'd still mark it as excellent (it IS a space shuttle) - but there's so much more. Every plane/flying vehicle imaginable is here. We took our two daughters (aged 9 and 11) and they had a great time as well. This museum is... More

This was one of my favorite musuems of all time, they had a great selection of airplanes, rockets etc on display, but most important have the space shuttle !! You can stand 5 feet away from the space shuttle discovery, you can see the re-entry marks on the nose and sides, it is great !! They have an actual SR71... More

Both the content and the display methods are fantastic here. The content is, for someone who has loved watching and reading about planes all his life, like having free rein and endless appetite in the world's best bakery. The Discovery space shuttle is a standout, but the entire history of flying is there, from the whimsical creation of Langley that... More
