Spent a gloriously sunny afternoon strolling round this lovely and tranquil place, with its blend of traditional manicured gardens and rocky, cliff-edge paths with glorious views. Love the outdoor cafe with its scenic terrace too - wonderful for whiling away the time in good company. Tickets for the Chateau de Castelnaud include a reduction for the gardens at Marquessac and... Visited here on a very windy day, weather wasn't kind to us in France. But, it was still very enjoyable, the views at the top were outstanding and the children's playground was just as good. The peacocks were an instant attraction so definitely worth a visit and don't forget to taste their local ice cream. Delicious.

I'm not usually one for gardens but this one is amazing. Our young kids loved it too. Magnificent views from every angle. Plenty of places or kids to play and hide. Discounted entry to Castelnaud if bought together and you don't have to see both on same day. The birds, especially peacock is gorgeous. Bring a picnic lunch and sit... More

We always visit these gardens when we stay in The Dordogne. The walk is beautiful with magnificent views - the ice-cream is also magnificent! Well worth a visit.

The gardens of Marqueyssac overlook the Dordogne River with the Chateau de Castelnaud in one direction and La Roque Gageau in the other. There are acres and acres of walks in the woods and whole areas of mounded boxwood plantings and perfectly squared-off boarders along the walks. There are no flowers, however, so don't expect that. Just bring a picnic... More

This beautiful garden very near the river is a nice surprise. Beautifully planted and maintained, the gardens are a tribute to the climate, the setting, and the art of gardening. Especially delightful was the large area of boxwoods, all shaped and sculpted. There are great vistas from various points in the garden, and the chateau is nicely situated.

this was the most beautiful garden, so romantic. You can walk up to the Belvedere that overlook the Dordogne with other views of the area as well. It was great to have a trolley ride down for my 80 year old mother that seemed like she was 15! The lunch there afterward was lovely too. Bon Attraction!!!

This is a wonderful place for gardeners and the just curious alike. The gardens are laid out very well and one must appreciate the massive amount of work that has gone into the resurrection of these gardens. There are wonderful views over the Dordogne river valley towards the Château de Castelnaud and northwards to Beynac. A really exiting addition to... More

This gardens were beautiful. My husband and I enjoyed walking around the gardens. The view was amazing. We didn't go into the house that was there but did go to the look out point. The gardens were grown over until a man bought the property and restored them to their original greatness. I would recommend going if you enjoy hiking.... More

Lovely, well-kept gardens in Vezac. Overall, a good to-do if you are an outdoorsy person. Reserve at least half a day if you want to walk through the whole area. Don't forget your water bottle specially during the summer!
