Great Walk. Not sure what is better: the walk there or the falls at the end. We took the long walk (starting at the Stone House) and are glad we did. Would have done it the next day if our itinery allowed.
We were passing the turnoff to the falls so stopped in for a look. It's a very short walk from the car park & there are three different views. First one is the view looking at the falls - even though it was very dry when we were there, there was still water flowing over ... & we even spotted...

We walked to the falls and back from the Stone Store and Kemp House. It was a glorious walk. Highly recommend a swim at the falls. Take your trunks and find a tree to change behind. We took a picnic and took the better part of the day to take our time and enjoy nature.

Must do walk, nice and easy, takes an hour one way but my mother who is 78 enjoyed the walk one way only. Weather was just perfect. Great for anyone who enjoys nature and not to hard a walk.
It is a pleasant and peaceful 8.5 km round trip from the historic stone store through "Lord of the rings" type temperate rainforest to the waterfall. There are many opportunities along the way for bird watching and photography. The gradients are moderate and the path well maintained. This is a highly recommended walk if visiting the Kerikeri region in Northland....

WE walked the trail, vs driving there, but it was worth the hike, mostly a flat pleasant trail, passing by Wharepoke falls first, which had a few people swimming in it, the view points for the Rainbow falls was fairly quiet, and the falls were good, tho more rain would help. A restroom is available there, and parking lot for...
