Just did a drive-through visit. Some real interesting old trees. Nice place for the locals to walk & bike.
Excellent place to visit when you visit Virginia Beach. The beach area is on the bay so the waves are not as big as on the ocean side. Little ones would definitely be safer and be able to play in the water more on this side. The cypress tree swamp on the other side is a gorgeous walk and there... More
We visited here while staying in Virginia Beach. A very nice place to go for a walk. Lots of different trails with just enough variation in elevation to get a bit of a work out (at least for us in our mid 60's). The folks at the entry shack and the visitor center were very engaging and gave us great... More
I didn't really go there in December, I don't know for certain if the camping area is open then, but that's as far back as it will let you say when your visit was. It was Summer, a few years ago as the last time, but I have been here a few times Don't go here to get away from... More
First Landing State Park is a great location in Virginia Beach to just escape for a few hours or for a weekend. I have spent many days there riding the bike trails or just walking amongst the trees and landscape. THey are equipped with cam sites on the Bay for you to enjoy. Quick Tip! If you want an inexpensive... More
Run Like A Girl is a race supporting the search for a cure for Ovarian Cancer. This is the fourth year it has been held at First Landing State Park, and the third year I have participated in this race. It is a nice place for a race because of the ability to provide varied running surfaces (asphalt, trail, sand)... More
Formerly called Seashore State Park, this park has many miles of wooded trails for hiking and running. Whenever I visit Norfolk or Virginia Beach, I go for at least one run in the park. My favorite trails are the Long Creek and the Osprey, but any of the others are also well worth doing.
My whole family spends a lot of time at First Landing State Park. First off, the beach is incredible. It is very clean, not over crowned, pet friendly and they have a great shower area and snack bar. We have also stayed in the cabins and they are also great nestled in the woods with tons of trails to walk/bike... More
First Landing State Park makes a great break from the boardwalk/resort area of Virginia Beach. The beach here is more natural, with dunes and shells that you can collect, and you can spot more wildlife than sea gulls. The tide is low, so little ones will enjoy wading. There are also cool trails (in a cypress swamp) and great free... More
