I wore sandals and should have worn something more substantial. There was a lot of mud. I heard it is pretty with snow on it and one can cross country ski or snowshoe. Not so pictureque in May but a place to stretch your legs away from traffic.

Yes, yes, I know we were there in the midst of spring melt-off. And the river is, in fact, impressive in flood. But nowhere -- not in the city website, not anyplace at all -- does it note that the majority of the trails are inaccessible. It's a nice park, but from the flooded trails to the construction backdrop to...

Great walk along the river. Watch dozens of rafts going down river. Lots of birds, ducks, and 1 eagle along the way.
FInd a map of Leavenworth and walk the easy trail that starts on 13th street running along The Iclcle River. It as early May when we walked and warnings of bears waking up were posted on trees. With the many locals that we passed enjoying this pleasant walk, we thought of the nature of it all and looked for fish...

Beautiful view of the river, nice early morning romantic walk over to Blackbird island and a bit of nature.
My wife and I walked through the park, including Blackbird Island, on a few occasions on this trip to Leavenworth. We enjoy a bit of birdwatching and we weren't disappointed--yellow-rumped warblers, evening grosbeaks, common merganser, and chickadees were among the birds we sighted. The trails are flat, well taken care of, and well-marked.
We went for a jog in this park. While there wasn't a ton of miles it was very nice. There were plenty of signs to let you know where you where and what was around you. Some of the trails where a bit mucky in early spring, but I bet they are lovely in the summer.
This is an easy walk on level ground, with lovely views of the river and mountains. You can start near the foot of 9th St. and walk all the way to Enchantment Park. For people with kids, it has two playgrounds; the one at Enchantment Park is excellent, and kept our kids entertained for hours! Free family entertainment at its...

Lovely for a walk alone, with friends or family or a loved one or pet. Informational plaques tell about the flora along the way and tucked away beaches allow for lovely picnics and naps in the sun. Watch tubers float the river and splash in the river while relaxing on the beach. Great park.
great park for roaming around at a leisurely pace. lots of opportunities to explore the river, climb on rocks and play on the beach.
