This is not just a place to watch movies, but a trip back in time. We love coming to the Oriental to watch current releases as well as foreign films. Comfortable, clean, and up to date facilities with the charm of yesteryear. They serve cappuccino and other drinks other than the usual soda.
Great architectural details and film choices; Not many food choices though. Have to search for street parking so allow enough time.
The opening night audience showed their enthusiasm and awe for the immense creativity and concept coordination displayed by this brilliant production team with several ovations within the first few minutes of the show. How I remember the grand theaters just before and after the introduction of Cinemascope--the Bijou, the Coronado, the Rialto, etc. etc. You can have your domestic flat screen ("smart TV"). I'll take the Oriental any day as the right setting for what Orson Welles called a "ribbon of dreams."
This theater is great for watching movies. It is a cool historic movie theater that is a little more pricey than others. I wish there were more screens so more movies could be playing at once.
I've been living in Milwaukee for 20+ years and have never been to the Oriental Theater. I've been missing out. What a beautiful theater.
One of the old Milwaukee gems. Love seeing movies there. Decor and the whole atmosphere like nowhere else.
LOVE this beautiful old theatre. It has a magical appeal. They also have the longest running showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show! They serve alcoholic beverages and a variety of foods.
This is a true Milwaukee landmark. The intricate Art Deco/Asian architectural decorations are beautiful. Check out the theatre's ceiling and the women's bathroom is also interesting. The only bad thing is that, like most theatres, it has been split up which chopped up the authenticity but they were able to keep most of the original theatre in tact, I believe....
