Very mellow horses and local guides will take you to areas you'll never be allowed to see on foot, it's all private property. This valley is just amazing! If you are in the area, be sure to ride horses in Waipi'o as a special part of your trip!

Waipio Valley is very beautiful and definitely worth seeing, but the road down into the valley is steep, narrow and 4WD only (not AWD). We read the reviews and decided to take the Waipio on Horseback tour. The crude sign at the entrance to the staging area pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the tour. The restroom...

This is a little tail to nose at some times but overall a really good time. They stop at a great overview spot on the ride down (in a van) for you to take a quick picture, and the guys running the horseback rides take lots of pictures of you at stops in the valley if you want. It's nicely...

We ride horses at home so going on a horse seemed sort of a waste of time. We really paid for the guides. One was raised in the valley and the other guide was raised on the rim. They were friendly and answered questions I am certain they have heard a hundred time. The ride to the bottom was great...

Actually it seems a little bit expensive, to spend over 100$ for a cozy horse-ride down in the valley on normal ways.
But you won't regret this experience! The employees are very friendly and they know what they do. So it's a safe and serious horse-ride. You will see a bit of the beautiful waipio valley and ride through small...

This is something you must do in Waipi'o. Only good way to see the valley. This is really a 3 part adventure. At check in you get fresh fruit, nuts, etc. Then you hop into a van for the ride to the valley---and let me tell you, you won't forget it. 25-33% grade for almost a mile on a one...

I am not really a big fan of horses but this trip was really worth it. They drive you down way into Waipio Valley (they could skip the bad jokes). Then you ride out toward the end of the valley crossing streams and learning about the valley. It was beautiful and probably the best way to see the valley. If...

The tour started with the owner cutting fruit (some of which we'd never seen) from the trees for us and offering fresh macadamia nuts. The tour guides were hilarious characters with stories and information that filled the entire tour. The horses were quite docile trail horses though one liked to splash and play in the water. The scenery is spectacular....

WHOA Ranch is just before the Waipi'o lookout has an interesting crusty cowboy who jokes his way down the scariest road I have ever seen to the valley floor of unimaginable beauty. There we saddled up on horses that were matched up to our experience- they were all well behaved and knew the way for an hour and half of...

This is a beautiful area of Hawai'i and one of the few ways to get down to the Valley, as the land is privately owned. It was fun to sit on horseback and ride around and see waterfalls, old homesteads. I'd suggest this to anyone.
