Green sand beach was easily the most beautiful beach I've ever seen in my life. There are only two like it in the world...on the Big Island of Hawaii and the other being in the Galapagos Islands. The hike to get to the beach seemed like it took forever...but finally creeping up on that amazing blue water and a fantastic... More

It was one heck of a trip to green sand beach. You need a four wheel drive to get to green sand beach.we parked abour 3-4 miles away from green sand beach at the green sand beach parking. From there you need to hike 3 miles or do a 4 wheel drive. This is totally off road drive so none... More

We read about the Green Sand beach before we went on vacation. We drove our minivan rental down to the end of the parking area. There were several other cars in the morning. We grabbed our water, stuffed our towels and a snack into the backpack and hiked down to the water. A Ranger was sitting in his truck preventing... More

The Green Sand Beach and South Point Rd on the Bid Island in Hawaii are places you want to mark on the map and tell other you have been there. The views are breath taking at South Point Rd and you can even see people jump off the cliffs. The green sand beach is like nothing I have ever seen.... More

Take a trip to the green sand beach! Its worth finding. We drove to South Point then hopped on a local's truck bed to get down to the beach..that was $10 a person...totally worth it ! The walk is too far..about 2miles each way with dust and no shade. People were swimming so wear your suit. So worth the trip.... More

This beach is a marvel. My understanding is there are only 2 in the world like this. It is a beautiful sight to see. The hike is about 2.5 miles from the parking area, and it isn't a simple stroll. But for a fee, there are locals willing to take you to and from. The sand cliffs showcase the beach... More

Once you get there this place is amazing. It is a tucked away private spot that is worth the extra steps to get to. The walk is about 3 miles each way, but it is open tundra with red clay dirt and no cover from the strong sun. Just be prepared to walk the trail along the sea, wear a... More

The beach is beautiful with a brilliant blue water with olive sand and wind sculpted cliffs. Hike is 2 miles over a hot flat dusty and windy 4x4 road that takes off to the left following the coast at the end of the south point road (take the left at end to end up at parking/boat ramp). There are usually... More

Not to pick too many nits, but there are three places further south than Ka Lae (South Point) that can be considered the southernmost point in the United States. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extreme_points_of_the_United_States#Southernmost_points> The paved road ends at a small bay and boat ramp. Four-wheel drive trails continue to the green sand beach. It's about two and a half miles each way. It... More
