As others have mentioned, the trail is not that difficult to hike.

It’s peaceful and there’s a lot of different terrain throughout the hike, but for me the greatest part was the end which gives you a beautiful panoramic view of Molokai and Maui as well as the waves breaking on Lanai.

The only reason I didn’t give this trail 5-Stars is because I wish it ended closer to, or preferably at, the ocean. That would have been incredible.

With that said, it is worthwhile and a good chance to relax at the end of the trail while taking in the sights and sounds of nature.

My friend and I did this hike and totally love the breathtaking view at the end of this hike. One can see Molokai and Maui. The hike is not hard or long as it is on a 4x4 road. I highly suggest doing this 5 mile round trip hike.

We parked at the cemetery, starting out on the Munro trail, then hit the Koloiki trail at sign #8. We followed the Koloiki trail from there. This was a nice hike, I'd rate it as a moderate level of hike. Nicely shaded, but make sure you take water! End of the trail is spectacular! Awesome views! Trail was nicely marked!

Along the Munro Trail about 2.5 to 3 miles from the Keomuku Hwy heading north from Lana'i City. This is a great little hike!! Just at marker 12, walk left, just east of north, out for about a 30 to 45 minute round trip. Amazing scenery from weird to spectacular makes this an easy, but fun walk on the top of Lana'i. You'll look down both valleys to the northeast and into the sea. Always check conditions of roads and have some 4WD driving experience. Have fun!!!

This hike is 5 miles round trip and is one of the best on the island. Pick-up a map at the Cultural Center. The trail begins near the closed Koele golf course. Walk to the right of the Lodge and stay left of the closed golf shop. At that point, green signs point the way. Continue following the green numbered signs until you reach #14. At that point, if the day is clear, you will see Molokai and Maui. The trail can be slippery when wet. It is good to take hiking shoes or shoes with good traction. If you walk from the Hotel Lanai, add one more mile each way.

Definitely go early and bring your water. The Koloiki Ridge hike is 5 miles round trip from the golf course at the Lodge at Koele to a point on the Koloiki Ridge with views out to the neighboring islands of Maui and Moloka'i, if the cloud cover permits. The trail is well marked with 14 checkpoints and various arrows to guide you. A couple downed trees have you clamboring a bit, but otherwise, the trail is easily managed with gentle sloping inclines and descents. What is particularly interesting is the diverse flora throughout the trail- imported Cooke Island Pines, arid desert-like scrub, rain forest-like intoxicating yellow ginger and then wispy featherlike pines, the likes of which I have never seen. The point at marker 14 is fairly nondescript and not near the Lanai island summit, but it does offer decent views, which were a bit obscured by heavy clouds, and a view of the dramatic Maunalei ravine where water was once pumped for Lanai City.

With the Lodge under renovation it was a little awkward walking through the grounds to find the trailhead next to the golf center, but once at the golf center, the trail is nicely marked. Quick up hill followed by a downhill to meet the Munro Trail/Road, which you follow until the signs direct you toward the East to the viewpoint. Didn't see another person the entire time!

We saw a glimpse of an axis deer, and some beautiful parts on this easy trail, with the highlight in the end: beautiful panorama

This is a wonderful walk, suitable for most if the ground isn't really wet. The round trip is about 4 miles leaving from the golf clubhouse area at the Lodge. When we went, the Lodge and golf course were closed for renovation, but we had no trouble parking in the clubhouse lot and hiking from there. An employee directed us to it. The trail is marked with red arrows and signs for progress from 1 to 13 or 14. It is worth getting walking sticks from the fence at the water tank, or #4. The next part is slippery and the sticks really help. Great views of Maui and Molokai at the end and down into the Gulches (valleys). Take water and lunch and enjoy it on top of the world.

This is a beautiful hike/walk. You follow the beach and then hike up to ridge and back down to ocean. Go early to avoid the heat! Bring a bottle of water and enjoy the beauty of the Island.
